NEWSLETTER

This is Emmanuel’s 100th year! Enthusiasts needed. If you would like to join in and help with the festivities of our Centennial Celebration – planned for October 21 this coming fall – be sure to let us know. Sign up in the church office or contact Lauren Durgin.

An All-Parish Book Forum was held during this past Lent. Each week, after Sunday coffee hour, the group met for a spirited discussion of John Ortberg’s book “The Life You’ve Always Wanted”.  With chapters titled “The Unhurried Life” and “Interrupting Heaven” it inspired a lively, humorous and sometimes challenging discourse. Thanks to Adrian for pulling it all together.

Our Summer Schedule begins on June 18 and runs through September 3.  During the summer we have one service at 9 a.m., Holy Eucharist Rite II, followed by Fellowship hour at 10:15.

New Prayerbooks are needed to replace the battered books (some with missing pages) now in the pews.  If you would like to make a memorial dedication in one of the new books, the donation is $15.  Please sign up with Laurie in the office.

capital campaign

On Saturday, June 24, we’ll be celebrating the conclusion of our capital campaign from noon until 3 p.m. with a picnic
and outdoor party, to honor the contributions of all our parish members to renovate our buildings and make this parish such a beautiful worship and meeting space.  And for dessert: strawberry shortcake!

COMMUNITY NOTES

The Spring Yard Sale was held on Saturday, May 6th. With food and sales, we took in over $1100.  Each year this fundraiser is a big event for us. There is a lot of work involved from set-up to cleanup. And it can be stressful; would it rain, would there be enough people to work or enough stuff to sell? Up until almost the night before it was truly hard to tell, but right on cue people and things appeared – even the sun! It was hard work but paid off. Thanks to all who donated items or helped out and to Sue White for organizing.

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS

Well, believe it or not, another Sunday School season is almost over.  We will be finishing up the year with our parable series.

Next year is going to be a very exciting one with many changes. Our primary Godly Play class will be broken up into two classes:  one class consisting of pre-school, kindergarten, first and second graders and the other class

consisting of our third, fourth and fifth graders.  Our current intermediate Godly Play class will all be graduating to middle school this year.  Adrian, Christine and I made a trip into the Diocese to research middle school curricula and have found a curriculum that we are all very excited about.  The materials we have chosen will bring our middle schoolers straight through to high school and confirmation.

And just in case you have managed to miss us, we have been having some fun participating in the All Parish Worship services.  We have been creating and displaying our artwork for our parish family.  One Sunday we created banners with symbols representing who we are and then displayed them at the All Parish Workshop service.  At our last All Parish Workshop service we answered the question:  “Where do I see God?” through our artwork.

Sunday School graduation will be on June 11th 2006. Please plan on being there.  We will have a presentation of bibles to our graduating fifth graders and a special bible signing at coffee hour.  Please bring your pens so you can write messages, inspirations, etc. to our elementary school graduates!

Sunday, June 11, is Sunday School Graduation; we will also be honoring our Sunday School teachers and our High School Graduates, and celebrating the ministries of those who serve faithfully at the altar each Sunday.
